a NEW YEAR 2008 !
This year I will be helping with a community art project that will involve students from 7 or 8 schools in Barstow and
the surrounding area. We will be studying the indian tribes local to our area; what the ate, how they lived, their clothing,
tools, etc. The students will be planning a mural for an alcove at the Desert Discovery Center which will include a planter
with a waterfall and native plants and rock formations. Then they will execute their plans (with guidance from me and the
Brockhursts). In May the older students (mostly high schoolers) will be participating in a Mural-In-A-Day project at the corner
of Barsotw Road and Main Street, the subject of which is the same Indian Tribes they studied for the DCC mural. Check back
later for photos.

What's New?
The Road To Nowhere...
| Planned for the side of the TX BBQ 208 E. Main St |

|
To some people, taking the train through the desert southwest was like "the train to nowhere". The vast expanses
of openness and the heat of the desert sun combined to keep away all but the most adventurous. To those, it was the road to
the "promised land"; a new start, a path to fortune, a conduit to the Golden State and the land of milk and honey. Some came
and stayed here, at the crossroads in the desert.
