Welcome!  This site is devoted to using various recycled materials in all sorts of craft projects.  I decided to make this site a few years ago when I did a search and noticed that the vast majority of recycled craft projects were aimed at children.  These projects are for those of us who are older and want to do something more sophisticated with our old "junk."  Nowadays, there are more sites available but I'm having too much fun with this project.

I make cards and costumes so they are the vast majority of projects.  Though a few other projects including scrapbooking are thrown in here.  Fortunately, I have found lots of friends who are also into recycling and I'll add their projects whenever I can.

This headband was made from an old belt.  I cut off the ends and added an elastic band.  This is a great tribal fusion look.

The base of this headband was a piece of material cut from an old pair of corduroy pants.  An old tarnished necklace and several old buttons given to me by Eloise were used for detail.

This headband base was made from a piece of metallic gold ribbon with a fabric remnant layered over it.

Another fabric remnant with an old pair of earrings and a bracelet added.  I cannot even begin to remember what the concho came off of.  Everything was painted a copper color to match.

Two necklaces were used to make these bracelets.  The pink and black beads came off a very odd looking necklace that was a combination of pink, black and tan which was picked up at a thrift shop.  It was one of the ugliest necklaces that I had ever seen but the beads were interesting.

More turquoise beads from the same necklace as in the previous photo.  The large pink and brown beads were old ugly beads painted over with nail polish.  The metallic blue beads were faded beads that contrasted sharply with the other beads in an old broken bracelet.  They mix nicely with the silver.

Even the elastic in the toe rings are recycled from old stretch bracelets that my daughter has outgrown.

chokert.jpg

This choker was made from the small amount of yarn leftover from the yarn belts on the belt page  This design is based on one I have seen on a Tribe site.

The gold beads used to space out the buttons are from the same turquoise necklace as the photo to the left.  Ivory beads are from another thrift shop find.

Mean Kitty wear is by far the best shop for belly dance costuming.  Sherry and Jani are great designers and the construction of their costumes is of the highest quality.  I can't recommend them enough.
