If you have kids, then you've had this stuff in your house.  I'm talking about those cheap plastic spider rings.  Every kid gets them at Halloween and they get bored with them quickly.  Well, these make for great dimensional and quick to make cards.

The orange spiders work great on a black background.  Web was stitched on.

This is from a skull ring.  It required extra glue to secure and a permanent black marker for detail.

This fly was not from a ring.  Just a goodie from a party.  Goodie bag stuff can work great on cards.

A lot of people throw in little cheap plastic stuff in the goodie bags at birthday parties.  The kids play with it for a bit and lose interest quickly.

My dd had this bracelet for a while but got tired of it and I quickly realized that it would string up on some ribbon so of course I had to make a card just for it.

I wish I had kept more of her old goodie bag "junk."  They can make great dimensional embellishments to a kid's card.

Has Been Put to Good Use

My daughter recently took apart some plastic jewelry that she had made a couple of years ago.  The beads are pretty but not usable for more grown up jewelry and there wasn't enough to donate.

They were so cute and girly, I knew I had to use them on some cards.  These are the results.

Some scans aren't quite clear and shadows do appear on them.  The cards are so dimensional, it was impossible to erradicate the problem.

Birthday card and bags

The Chinese takeout box is covered in fabric from a torn skirt.  The flowers are from an old plastic purse that she has also taken apart.  The flowers and fabric are lighter than what appears in the picture.  Green pony beads were strung on the handle.  The paper rolled around it is a gift certificate to a magazine.

The bead rings on the gift in the middle were made by stringing beads onto wire.

The geen goody bag purse was cute but needed some "oomph."  Beads, yarn, and a tag gave them a little more pizzaz.  The bag is lighter and more translucent than the photo shows.

The bag is from a kitchen supply store.  I reversed masked the circles on, strung beads on the handles (This was a major pain.  I wouldn't recommend doing this.), and covered up the store's logo with the background paper and daises.
