I was able to get two pairs of arm warmers and one pair of leg warmers from an old children's sweater that had a
hole in it. Once I had finished the project, I found several videos on YouTube about this subject.

Made from an old black t-shirt
My daughter has always wanted to be a cat for Halloween but never liked the headbands that were available.
She says that they hurt her head. I had an old black t-shirt that no longer fit me so I cut it up and used it for
the headband, tail, and even the stripes. I only did some sewing on the tail and basted the stripes onto a turtleneck.
The cat burglar idea came from a Michael's $1 stamp.

This is another pair of my daughter's holey jeans turned into cut-offs but I did a little more.
The appliques are from two old out-grown stained shirts of hers and the rhinestones were picked off an old t-shirt of mine
(very much out of style).
Some of the backing did not come off with the rhinestones so I had to think of a way to fix them.
I had some shiny yogurt foil from a different brand of yogurt. I glued it on to the backs of the rhinestones with an
industrial strength glue. It worked great.
I keep looking at packaging more and more. A great source for some of the shiny foils are some
of the cracker and cookie bags that are used to keep them fresh inside boxes.
One great tip I've learned for stopping the fraying at the ends of the cut-offs is to use a liquid fabric
glue made just for that purpose. It certainly improves the look.
This project was fun to do. It's a fabric collage that I'm thinking of turning into a pillow.
The tomato applique came off of an old stained kitchen towel and inspired this project. The tomato
and artichoke were stamped on paper, scanned, resized, and printed onto fabric. Acrylic paints add extra detail.
Several buttons especially the wooden one with the cherries are from my husband's grandmother's old dry cleaning store which
was closed decades ago. My daughter made the red, white, and blue pin for me years ago and was added for a little fun.

I designed the three fruit crate labels shown using a basic graphic software. Most fruit crate
labels on the internet are too fuzzy for printing especially onto fabric. The grapes were stamped directly onto muslin
and embroidered over. The beaded cherries are on an old patch that doesn't work well enough to prevent my daughter from
destroying jeans. The blue and white "flower" came from an old torn table runner.

This rooster was scanned from an old wine box. I've still got that box and once I've figured out
how to remove him safely from the cardboard, he'll become a decopauge project.
The blue and red hydrangea flowers were white and painted with acrylic paints.

Here is the entire project. Everything on it was stuff I've had sitting around for a while.
I've got to recommend giving fabric collage a try. It's lots of fun!

Applique Owl Backpack

The owl is from a much-loved but outgrown shirt.
The owl is from a Children's Place shirt that my daughter outgrew last year. She wanted to
keep the owl and we found the perfect place for it. I just had to cut off some loops on a cheap $10 backpack and hot-glue
it on.
The chain in the daisy chain was recycled from an old necklace.
