The purpose of this page is to simply show that the need for a specific size or style of
enclosure need not result in the expenditure of large amounts of cash or time. I built this enclosure and the "ON AIR" sign
in less than one hour of assembly time and another hour (perhaps) in cutting the components to size. The enclosure is constructed
of ABS plastic sheet connected together with the use of small blocks of wood and screws. The ABS plastic sheet which is 1/8"
thick can be easily scored and snapped to size. If you choose to use a power saw, keep the speed slow so that the plastic
does not melt. You may notice that each of the screws has a finish washer around the head of the screw. This is just my personal
preference. I just think it looks nicer.. The enclosure has only 4 panels: front, two sides and the top. There are several
wood blocks that are not at the corners but serve to support the weight of the radios and devices on top of the enclosure.
The ON AIR sign is illuminated by two "grain of wheat" bulbs in parallel on 13.8 VDC. The sign lights up when the power supply
is powered up and goes out when the power supply is shut off.
