We are a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization founded in 1978 consisting of a group of volunteers from the Temecula, Murrieta, Lake Elsinore, Wildomar and surrounding areas. We are committed to provide food and services to area seniors and needy families. We provide a range of services including: Emergency Food (bread and pastries, government commodities) Senior Brown Bag Program, Senior Share Program and Holiday Food Baskets). We provide Health and support services Flu shot clinic, Legal Assistance is also provided including: Paralegal assistance, Social Security Administration benefit assistance (questions and referral) .

Recreational Program are also available ( trips to casinos Branson )as well as Toys for Holidays.

Our center has operated financially through the support of donations government grants, and social agency community support. Government commodities have been supplied to the center by the federal government and channeled to us through the Survive Food Bank of Riverside California. We package and distribute the commodities once per month. Income guidelines must be met by the individuals receiving commodities.

The Senior Brown Bag Program has been financed in part by the Riverside County Office on Aging. In the past the Brown Bag was brought to us twice per month by the Survive Food Bank of Riverside California.

The latter program is the only program restricted to seniors sixty years of age or older. In addition the Food Share Program provides produce by local farms and is distributed to us via the Survive Food Bank of Riverside California. In the Emergency Food Basket Program, food and donations are collected primarily from the community (local stores and individuals).Baskets are then created for needy families. Seventy-five percent of the food baskets are given to individuals who have been referred from by the Department of Public Social Services.

Due to challenging economic times, and the termination of various social programs due to state and government expediters, it has become increasingly difficult to keep our center operational. Its quite ironic, our community demand at this time has reached a peak. In addition, many of the staff at our center are senior citizens. We are not wealthy individuals with a host of options and resources. Subsequently efforts to maintain our center operational has often become an overwhelming and all consuming task. However because of our steadfastness and genuine concern about this community, we have no notion of ever giving up.

We are therefore still reaching out to the community for financial support and assistance. Money and food donations of any type would be helpful in addition for those individuals in industry, whom desire to contribute on a monthly basis in the assistance with our building lease and utility expenses we would be thankful to receive such contributions. In the last months, it was necessary for the center to physically relocate due to soaring rents. If we had not relocated, the Center would had closed, and our food and service contributions to the community would have ceased.

The Temecula Valley Senior Center and Food Bank is a unique organization that provides services to both senior and needy families. We offer a comprehensive range of services and support, that is not provided by other area service centers . Must meet established income and personal guidelines. Produce proof of total household income. All individuals (both young and old) are also provided services in a compassionate and caring manner.
