I have been making doll clothes since fifth grade when I took orders for and made custom Barbie
clothes for her classmates! Later, when my two boys were young, I was a professional seamstress. In the
1980's, I also had a business making children's appliqued bibs and aprons. These were marketed in gift shops throughout
five states!
Following that, I worked as a restaurant baker before opening a natural food grocery and boutique.
Molly's Pantry operated for almost 18 years before closing in January 2004.

I am now a Licensed Psychologist, assessing and treating children and adolescents in my
hometown of Buckhannon, WV. Sewing doll clothes is my therapy!

I personally have the Pleasant Company American Girl dolls Kit, Nellie, and Josefina. While
I am most interested in sewing one-of-a-kind vintage-type doll clothes, I also used to make contemporary 18" doll clothes
for my neice Ella's 18" Gotz doll Amanda and American Girl doll Samantha, but now she has outgrown doll playing.
The Straight Stitches by Molly label is sewn inside every doll garment I create.
All doll clothes from Straight Stitches by Molly are well-constructed and meant to be passed down from generation
to generation of doll lovers. I still have the beautiful doll clothes my grandmother made for my mother's
22" Shirley Temple some 70
years ago! My husband and I have two sons and now, a daughter-in-law, but hope to have granddaughters
someday so that I may pass down my dolls and clothes to them!
