This is a Sony-Matic. Has NO sound at all. In fact, I cannot find where to take it apart. I might try when I'm up to
the task. However, the tape inside had some talk, parents trying to get their 4-month old baby, Ryan, to talk. I played the
tape on a different player. 3-6-06

I figured out how to take it apart, but do not wish to disassemble it completely at this time. Pic taken 3-8-06
The Flywheel was for playback only.

This is a Clarion, not to be confused with Claricon. This was made in West Germany, and works well. The right reel is
the take-up reel, like other Tape Recorders, but this recorder is different. The reels turn clockwise during playback, so
it has to be threaded upside-down. That's because the heads are at the bottom. The Jacks are different, so you cannot
use any microphone with this recorder. This is well made.

Notice how it's threaded. Kinda cool, eh?? It's capstan drive. Runs at the standard 3 3/4 ips speed.
It does not have a "stop" button. The "stop" slider you see only disengages the pinch roller, but the motor keeps running.
To turn off, you have to level the forward and rewind buttons.

This is a Ross "Mark 400". I had to use tuner cleaner, because the audio was scratchy due to dirty contacts on
the Play/Record slide switch. This is Rim drive, with a speed controller. It will not rewind if the slide is set to "Record".
It works pretty well. 3-15-06

A Ross 55. Works like new, and has original box and instructions. 3-16-06

This is a Midland Tape recorder. Does not play well, the rubber on the platters are hard and slippery, it will play at
the beginning, but will stop after so much tape is on the takeup reel. Still a nice vintage. Sound is great. 3-16-06
