McMansions
In 2004 alone, there
were 62 teardowns. The typical floor area of a replacement
"McMansion" is 2.6 times larger than the original home. The
trend continues today and is forever changing the character of the Town. The teardowns are a controversial topic in Town as many rebuilt homes are built out to their limits under the zoning bylaws and frequently dwarf their neighbors. In many cases, they are “out of character” in their neighborhoods.
