The Currin family came from Kilkenny, Ireland in 1682 to Accomack County, Virginia.  Early records show Currins in Accomack, York, Isle of Wight, Louisa, Norfolk and Hanover Counties in Virginia.

John Currin was an indentured immigrant  who came to America in 1682 as a 21 year old groom because he did not have money enough to pay his passage.  Descendants of John Currin  were found in Montgomery County and York County, Virginia  and further south in Granville County, North Carolina. James Currin was the first Currin to come to Granville County in 1764/5. Hugh Currin, his brother came several  years later and was found dead in the woods during the Revolutionary War. James Currin was a Captain in the Granville County Militia during the Revolutionary War.  His two sons served 84 months  in the same war. Each of the sons were given a land grant south of the Cumberland River in the state of Tennessee for their war service. The Currin family name was listed for serving and protecting their family and country in various wars.

Currins were tillers of the soil, builders, and blacksmiths; each carving a way of life far less comfortable than their homeland, but one they could hold onto and mold according to their own wishes and capabilities.

If you have a question or need assistance locating a relative, please contact me via email (mcurrin5@verizon.net ), giving me all the known information on the person you are seeking. I can use most any clues, such as locations, dates, children's names, spouse's name, etc. Virtually everything is sorted by location, so that can be the most important clue. I usually respond quickly to such requests, with either answers or more questions.  Like genealogy, these pages will never be complete, so please visit often.
