In early March, I had the opportunity to take a seminar with Floyd Rhadigan at East Berlin,
PA. I was able to get two projects pretty much finished, still need to clean them up and paint them. The
projects were a Santa laying on a moon (pictured) and a small Viking. Floyd was a great instructor and his Caricature
DVD is a must have!
I finished the "fusion" caricature/chip carving projects. Pictured here is
one that is completed. Wood Carving Illustrated (WCI) asked me to submit an article on the Fusion Santa piece.
I spent a good deal of time writing and shooting step by step photos for the article. Anticipated publication will be
in 2010.
I spent late summer working on my new series, the Pennsylvania Dutch Critters.
I've posted the first three critters (Series 1) on a separate page. These were a departure in my normal carving style,
but I had a lot of fun. Series 2 is in the works!
I am currently working on a Santa Rabbit for the October 2009 Conewago Carvers Show in
East Berlin, PA. After the show, I would like to finish some pieces that I started at Honesdale, paint some finished
carvings, and start my Josie relief carvings!
