HFD Goings-On
- We are happy to announce that Hoodland Fire as now gotten the new fire engine!! The new rig will be stationed at
the Government Camp Facility as there is a need for the newer implements to effectively put out the fires of the newer buildings
that may be harder to reach due to snow. They are typically designed to last 20 years. Two of HFD’s engines are
over 20 years old.
- Hoodland Fire will be having drills for volunteers training and physical training.
- HEART is pleased to announce that Mic Eby has accepted the position
of Fire Chief for the Hoodland Fire District #74!! Mic brings his extensive experience and enthusiasm to this position.
This transition is made all the more easier as Mic has many years of service in this community and is liked and trusted by
the people who live here and know him. Congratulations Mic!!

Eby introduced the new HFD liaison to HEART, Battalion Chief Buck Casey will now sit in on the HEART meetings and offer his
help and experience in keeping HEART trained and informed.

Past Incidents:
On November 7th, 2006 Hoodland area residents suffered major flooding from the Sandy River. Many homes along
the river where affected in one way or another. HEART was called out by the Hoodland Fire Department to assist in bagging
and delivering sandbags.
It was tallied that HEART filled around 1500, and delivered over 500, sandbags.

CPR certification and the basics of first aid.
The Hoodland Fire District is now offering community first aid
and CPR classes. Members of the Hoodland community ages 14 and older can become certified in CPR and learn first aid. They
will be taught by firefighters that practice these skills on a routine basis throughout the community. These classes will
be held on the second Saturday of each month and will begin at 8 A.M. and conclude at 5 in the evening. The morning session
will focus on CPR through the American Heart Association. Certificates will be issued upon successfull completion. The afternoon
session will cover the basics of first aid.
Cost is $15 per day to cover the cost of materials, printing, and instuctor fees. Class size is limited to 15 persons
on a first come first served basis, no child care will be provided.

HEART is pleased to announce our newly elected Treasurer, Rita Ezard!
Sadly, Kylie Milne, our previous Treasurer, has had to retire. She had been the Treasure of
HEART almost since it's inception. She will be missed in this position, though we still look forward to her attendence
to the HEART meetings.
Rita has graciously accepted to take over in that position. Her continued support to the community
is again demonstrated by accepting this position.
Congratulations Rita!!
