Ouch! This Hurts
So I've avoided doing this for quite some time now as I'm not the person who is quick to ask for
help when it comes to my son and my needs, however now I feel as I kinda need to share with all of you a bit of our lives
and why we have changed a bit of Angels On a Mission procedures.
Gabriel is currently on the waiting list for admission to The Children's Institute's RND (Reflex Neurovascular Dystrophy) Program. As such our efforts this year have been halted
a bit. You see Gabriel has been out of school now for 4 weeks and either on crutches or in a wheelchair as his most
recent flare was after an injury back in October while running. As such life has proven difficult at best on some days
and on others almost unbearable for him because of his pain levels. Now he fluxuates between medications and rest to
help control his pain and sometimes that doesn't even really do the trick. Since this has been our situation for the
last 4 weeks it has come to light that it is time that we need to stick close to home and still provide that which we are
able to... so bear with us during this difficult time, say a prayer and remember... Even a Miracle Needs A Hand.

Last night I was touched by an Angel. Yes, it's true and not in the actual but more
in the metaphorical. Last night at Gabriel's birthday party as he hobbled around on crutches a family friend's daughter
got my attention and asked if she could work with "Angels" again this year. Now I must tell you that I was taken back
as I had not mentioned our annual project recently as we have been going through some difficult financial times, however I
wanted to hear her out and so I did. My heart was overflowing with joy as Brooke explained that she didn't want the
mission to go to the wayside at all and she was willing to step up and take the project to the school superintendent
on Monday to try to recruit storage space and student recruits for our holiday mission. I didn't want her to pin
her hopes on the school alone so between her family and ours a means was actually devised so that no matter what our
mission will continue this year. I cannot thank Brooke enough for becoming not only a part of our mission but also a
spokesperson for that which she so wholeheartedly believes in. Oh, and Brooke, she's 13 so remember even the smallest
hands can always help.

5 Days and Counting
Gabriel turns 14 this year on the 15th. What a blessing he has been to me and so many others
that have known us. I couldn't be happier as a mother or as a human being to have known him. He has metamorphosized
throughout the years growing into an individual that I couldn't imagine. Thank you all for being a part of our lives
and being such a blessing.

Trans Siberian Angel Jennifer Cella
So Gabriel came to me this year and explained to me that above all
other toys and special things he could want for his birthday this year he really wanted to go and see Trans Siberian Orchestra on the weekend of his birthday. I searched high and low and priced
tickets out that would have cost about as much as my rent for a month and realized I'd be spending way beyond my means to
purchase tickets. As a last resort I visited the website and wrote to 6 of the performers by visiting their personal
sites and asking them for assistance in finding reduced rate tickets. And an Angel stood up within them by the name
of Jennifer Cella and called me to let me know she would provide the tickets as Gabriel's
gift. I couldn't have been more elated as Gabriel has asked for this gift 2 years running now.
He was so nervous going to the concert as we walked to the Mellon
Arena he counted each of the stairs and commented on how some sets were uneven and others were even numbers of steps.
Upon finally getting inside he was enthralled by the size of the stage and such as he has been studying engineering in the
Future City Club at school and explained to me about the mechanics of it all from his perspective. When the concert
started though, he stopped talking and instead sat there in complete and utter awe just a mere 6 rows away from the stage
as lights danced before him and classical music showered upon him. He shouted out most of the names of the songs as
he's practiced them in band and he was dazzled as snow fell upon him and flames shot skyward as twinkling stars surrounded
him. It was almost as if his eyes had opened to the world for the first time all over again.
Upon the concert ending, our night was completely a success and we
could never had expected what happened next. Gabriel was ushered to the front of the auditorium by a stage hand directly
up to his Angel Jennifer Cella and another member of TSO Jay Pierce and was presented with a Les Paul, Gibson Electric Guitar
that was signed by the members of the group. His face in complete and utter amazement, he signed to the entire group,
"Thank you, Thank you, Thank you" again and again. Thank you Jennifer for being and Angel and providing my angel with
a dream he could have never imagined.
