A Clan MacTavish Official Website
Their Country was the Cradle of Scotland

The following article, written by an Edinburgh journalist under the pen name of Allan Douglas, first appeared in the Weekly Scotsman Newspaper, Thursday, November 22, 1962 on page 13, many years before Dugald MacTavish of Dunardry, 26th Chief of the Clan, submitted his petition to Lord Lyon for recognition as Chief. The article was located in 1998, one year after Lord Lyon had confirmed Dugald MacTavish, as the first ratified Chief of the Clan MacTavish in over 200 years.

While the article contains some errors on the part of the author it is presented here as an historical find. Authorized republication by Scotsman Publications to the web author. We give credit to Scotman Publications and the writer.  http://www.scotsman.com/
