Grant of Arms to Lachlan MacTavish of Dunardry

17 April 1793

 

 

By the Lord Lyon John Hooke Campbell.

 

 

'TO ALL AND SUNDRY whom these Presents do or may  Concern we JOHN HOOKE CAMPBELL OF BANGESTON ESQUIRE,  LYON KING OF ARMS, do hereby Certify & Declare that the Ensigns Amorial Pertaining and belonging to Lachlan MacTavish of Dunardry Esquire are matriculated in the Publick Registers of the Lyon Office and are Blazoned as on the Margin  thus viz. Quarterly first and fourth Girony of eight Sable and Or; second and third Argent a Bucks head cabossed Gules attired Or on a Chief engraled azure  a cross crosslet fitched between two Mullets of the third. Above the same is placed a helmet befitting his degree with a Mantling Gules the doubling Argent on a Wreath of his Liveries is set for Crest a boar's head erazed Or langued proper, in an Escroll above the Crest this Motto NON OBLITUS Which Amorial Ensigns  above Blazoned We do hereby Ratify, Confirm and Assign to the said Lachlan MacTavish Esquire , and the Heirs- male of his body as their proper Arms and Bearings for all time coming; IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF These Presents are Subscribed by Robert Boswell Esquire Our Deputy and the Great Seal of our office is appended Hereonto at Edinburgh  the Seventeenth day of April in the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Three."
