Hello, my name is Terry Turner, I have been flying radio control electric foam airplanes ( Fan Foam ) for about 2.5 years now and it has renewed my interest in R.C. I flew glow planes for about 12 years and was burnt out with the hassle of cleaning the plane after a flying session, you know what I mean, castor oil---yuck, but electrics are the future, no mess, just charge your batteries and fly! In the last 18 months I have been using Lipo batteries and they are great. Just recently I did a glow to electric conversion on one of my old glow powered planes (Raven Profile Fun Fly) and it is the largest plane to date. It flies great for about 10-12 minutes using a Mega 22/20/3 TDS motor with a M.E.C. Superbox, geared 7 to 1 with a 20x12 APC E prop. It pulls about 600 watts at 40 amps using a  5s2p 2200 mah PQ lipos, with 2 battery setups, that is 20 to 25 minutes of flying. Check out the links for sites and info. Hope you have fun! By the way, I fly in the Dickinson area, south of Houston, Texas.

What's New?

I have just finished my 1rst electric ARF made by Hyperion (3-Delight), I am running it at around 300 watts and it seems to fly ok, I should of used a lighter motor instead of a Mega 16/15/3 as it is very fast model and "doesn't float on landings", but has to be flown in at about 1/6 throttle. That leads to another mod "the landing gear", I changed it out to 1/8" steel because the original carbon one's would break even on a normal landing in grass. I guess I am too use to the flat foamies and the way they fly so slow and maneuver. I am almost at the point where I can hover the foamie for more than 10 seconds, but now the 3-Delight is another story. I will add a picture of it later  .
