In 1984 it was recognized that there was a need in the Sorrento East community for a women's social organization. In January of that year sixteen interested women met at Margaret Morrissey's home for such an endeavor. These women, under the leadership of Margaret, organized the Women's Club of Sorrento East.

The first meeting of the Club was held on Friday, March 2, 1984 at the Golden Shrimper Restaurant (the present home of Tervis Tumbler) with 47 women attending.  By the October meeting the bylaws had been drafted and were ready for discussion, as were the names of the proposed officers.  At this meeting decisions were made that the Club be strictly a social activities organization and would not be affiliated with the National Association of Women's Clubs.  In the years that have followed, the Executive Boards have changed the bylaws and the activities as the need arose.

The history of the Club is contained in 12 Historical books which are maintained and stored at the Historian's home.  These books are available for members' perusal.

Since its inception, many wonderful women have worked together to keep the club alive and active for the enjoyment of its membership.
