In December 2006, 74 horses were rescued from a farm in Sharpsburg, Maryland.  Pat Douglas started Pheasant Hill Equine Foundation, Inc. and provided care and shelter for 16 of these horses.  Snickers was one of these horses.

Day 2 Snickers in her new paddock

Sept. 7, 2007 Day 1 Snickers arrived and is settling in. We put Maria's filly in the stall next to her and they seemed to get along.  We groomed her and pick up all her feet. She was great.

Day 3 Snicker may have been starved but she wasn't abused so she really trusts people. Maria put a bridle on her yesterday. Today she was bridled and saddled. She gets a little tense but is manageable. Her mane was pulled and she looks really nice under tack.  We will get her teeth floated soon. Everyone is thrilled with her.

Oct. 2007 -  Snickers and her pasture mate are great buddies.  We continue to tack her up a couple times a week.  We started lunging her and she is either a quick learner or you gave her a good start or more than likely both.  She remains a little nervous with new things but tries hard to please.  We did take pictures when she arrived and after we tacked her up so you have before and after pictures. When she relaxes, she looks like a cute show pony.  We are hoping that is where she will be this spring.

January 2008- On short notice we heard Pat Douglas was going to talk to the 4-H Horse-N-Around club about Pheasant Hill so we took pictures of Snickers to give to her at the meeting. We didn't have a chance to clean her up but you can see she is happy and healthy.  Her rider, Amanda, is a 4-H member and  plans on showing Snickers in the Montgomery County Fair this year.

The pictures are of Snickers trotting her first crossrails. As you can see from the smiles both are having a great time.

February 4, 2008  It was a great riding weekend.  Snickers had not been worked in a few weeks due to weather but she was tacked up and was willing to get right back to work. We think she likes the attention.  She is beginning to relax and is not spooky in the ring.  Amanda and Maria are looking forward to taking her on lots of trail rides this spring.

August 2008

Snicker's first show was the Montgomery County Fair.  She won ribbons in pleasure classes and gymkhana. She jumped her first courses and met with fairgoers on rescue day.

September 2008

Snickers went to her first real show. It was her first time in an indoor and she was great.

When we got Snickers,we had no idea she would be such a sweet, healthy, pony.

Thank you Pheasant Hill for the great pony!
