Begin reading the text (available as a download below) especially pages37-39, “The Effects of Reiki
Attunement” first, then begin reading from
the front of the book at your own pace. I want you to be aware of some of what you may experience due to the empowerment before
you come to class. Empowerments, attunements, Reiju, can be quite energetically powerful and there will be a natural cleansing
process, and possibly a “healing crisis” that some of you may experience, so be aware of that. You will be releasing
things physically and emotionally that you no longer need as your vibration is raised- this is a natural effect of being empowered
to Reiki.
[You do not have to print out the text. It is here for your convenience and can be saved on your personal computer.]
Begin doing the chakra meditation (especially for anyone who has not done
any energy or chakra work before) to prepare your energy centers for Reiki. This is recommended to begin it one week prior
to your first empowerment doing it once a day for the period
of 1 week.
[For those of you who regularly do chakra meditations, this step is not necessary.]
Decide on an intention and have it ready on the date of the Reiju
Empowerment: how do you want Reiki to change your life for the better? What do you want to get out of this?
**If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me (azitak@yahoo.com). **
It is advisable to do a chakra meditation daily for 1 week prior to your empowerment date, especially
if you have never done any energy work before. If you have your own chakra meditation (on CD for example), you can use
that. If not, here is a simple one you can use:
Reijuis the traditional Japanese Reiki empowerment process and when received regularly, it is a way of re-enforcing your
connection to Reiki. By receiving Reiju on a regular basis, you become a clearer channel for Reiki, you increase your abilities
to bring more energy through you, you improve your intuitive abilities and sensitivities to subtle energy, and you continue
along on your spiritual advancement. (Those are some of the purported benefits to receiving Reiju on a regular basis.) In
traditional Reiki, students would receive Reiju on a regular basis as part of their Reiki training, spiritual development,
and way of life.
Traditionally, Reiki
practitioners and students would sit in meditation doing Hatsu Rei Ho, then they would receive Reiju from the Reiki Masters
at their weekly sessions.
If you are unsure whether or not to receive Reiju, please send
me an e-mail with any questions you may have.
An empowerment is a sacred ceremony in
which the Reiki ability is passed from master to student. If you are not taking classes in person, for a distant empowerment,
you will want to have a quiet time set aside that you will be un-disturbed for about 45 minutes. You may want to have candles
and relaxing music playing- whatever gets you in a meditative mood. You can lay down and begin doing your chakra meditation
right before the scheduled time if you like. Have everything set up & all phones turned off during this time. The date
and time are discussed & set up through e-mail.
Make any notes afterward of anything you
may have sensed during the Empowerment.
Have some water to help ground yourself
afterward.
Homework: Read about Self-Healings pp.
54-58 and do them daily for the full 21-day cleansing process.

Hatsu Rei Ho Energy Exercise and Meditation:
Read about Hatsu Rei Ho on pp. 49-53.
You can start doing Hatsu Rei Ho daily right before your self-healings. (You only need
to spend about 10 minutes on the Hatsu Rei Ho but can use parts of it as longer meditations as desired.)

A Look at the 7 Major Chakras
Giving Reiki to Others
After reading the entire text and only when you feel that you are ready to start giving
Reiki to others, then you can enjoy the beauty of sharing this loving energy. It is best to start with willing friends and
family until you get a better feel for it and are more confident with it. You can start with doing a session in the seated
position and then later do the supine position (lying down).
You can work with a willing partner in practicing feeling and scanning the energy field.
Here is a video excerpt, freely available on YouTube that can give a good
idea about giving a Reiki session:
Scanning The Energy Field

Reiki Is Relaxing!
Example
of Using Reiki on a Pet
Many animals enjoy receiving
Reiki. They understand messages transmitted through the energy field as they are naturally very open. As with humans,
you ask their permission before giving them Reiki. You can do this verbally while also using your eyes, tone of voice, and
energy field presenting your Reiki flowing hands to them and wait for a response. Some will even wedge their way between you
and another person that you are giving Reiki to, to let you know that they too would like to receive, sometimes even presenting
the area of their body which they are wanting treated. Because their bodies are smaller (most pets anyway), and because they
are more open than humans, a session can often be completed within a couple of minutes. They will often give you an indication
that they are done receiving by simply getting up and walking away.
The video below is a demonstration of Reiki for a pet
rabbit that is nervous.

The Reiki Principles

Don't get angry (Okoru na)
Don't worry (Shinpai su na)
Be grateful (Kansha shite)
Work hard (Gyo wo hage me)
Be kind to others (Hito ni shinsetsu ni)

For the improvement of mind and body (Shin shin kaizen)
It has been studied that what we think
before we go to bed at night is carried into the subconscious mind as we sleep,
so it is well to have positive, constructive thoughts before falling asleep. It
is also believed that through positive affirmations we can deliberately create
constructive thoughtforms that will attract positive energy to us to work
toward manifesting what it is that we are affirming.
By saying the Reiki principles in the morning,
we set the
tone for the day. By stating the Reiki principles at night before going to bed,
we can allow them to seep into our subconscious mind and work toward
re-programming negative thought patterns.
For this reason, below, I have re-constructed
the
traditional Reiki principles into positive affirmations. By stating these with
“I AM…” we are also invoking our “I AM” presence which connects us to God/All
That Is.
See how you like them, how it feels to state
them with hands
folded in Gassho/prayer position before going to sleep, and allow Reiki to flow
through you afterward with hands placed at whichever head placement you are
most comfortable with, or feels really good to you.
