I started taking Aikido, a Japanese martial art that focuses on peace and defense instead of aggression and competition, when I was 16 and learned about ki (“chi”, energy) and how it can be used in both self defense situations as well as in healing. I now see Aikido as being a step on the path that has brought me closer to Reiki.

     I was guided to Reiki through Spirit as I was searching for the missing piece/peace in my life. My first empowerments were at a distance which worked very well for me as they were all completely guided by Spirit (I was told what was going on, I viewed the symbols being put into me, and I knew exactly when the empowerment ended) and best of all, I was not distracted by anyone or anything in the room since I was the only one there! I proceeded through all 3 levels in this way learning a very effective and traditional form of Reiki, Usui Teate Reiki. Later on, I wanted to receive an empowerment from someone (local) in person just to have a different experience of it and decided to take a Master level with Margaret Moore who created “Organic Reiki.” So I have gotten to feel the best of both worlds, so to speak, distant empowerments and an in-person attunement. Traditional and contemporary. Each has its good points. Both special and unique, and of course both work as they are both Reiki.

     I empowered my first Reiki students on April 27, 2007. After friends and family, it had taken a complete stranger e-mailing me that she wanted me to teach her that really got me started on teaching Reiki and I have since then empowered many different people to Reiki and some of those have received multiple empowerments with me as well, moving up the levels. The effectiveness of the empowerments is unquestionable. Of course individuals will all have their unique experiences however profound or subtle they may be. Some of my students have become very much aware of their innate psychic gifts following an empowerment. One becoming clairaudient, another clairvoyant, etc… but these are all dependent on the individual and how open and ready they are at the time. Some have gone through some hard core physical detox symptoms, others some emotional swings, others, nothing really notable, so once again it is all up to individual variation. I tell you these things not to scare anyone away or raise any expectations, but rather simply to make you aware of the different possibilities and how varied they are.

     My formal education has revolved around natural sciences and the medical field, including receiving a bachelor degree in Zoology and military allied health training for medical laboratory specialist. I am artistically inclined and occasionally paint and still do portrait photography occasionally. My main job for the past few years has been a full-time mom!

     My spiritual journey, which began before Reiki, has taken me through many different levels of awareness/consciousness. I have gone from receiving messages from past loved ones of total strangers to receiving channeled messages from Creator consciousness. I have gone from drawing a person’s blood with needles for lab tests to helping others to heal glaucoma, broken bones, depression, sciatic nerve and back problems, low energy levels, acute disorders, “negative energy” and “ghosts”, and more with my bare hands -well, it wasn’t really me, it was Reiki, and ultimately The Source- God, and our wonderful connections to the unlimited! I have used Reiki healing on myself, my children, my spouse, my parents, complete strangers, newborns, in-laws, other family members, students, clients, animals, pets, plants, and even homes both in person and at a distance. I have used the inexplicable to help both loved ones and complete strangers in the strangest of ways. There is no question in my mind as to whether or not it works. It works and it works well. Sometimes it is immediate, other times it takes several sessions. Sometimes the energy goes to other areas then what we may be intending it for as well. We are quite complex having not only physical, but also emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects that may need balancing as well. Reiki can also be used on the dying, not to prevent the death process, but to assist with a more peaceful passing.

     I have also had the opportunity to see Reiki having a scientifically measurable effect. I was welcomed to participate with a small group led by a doctor friend of mine who had an expert running a biofeedback machine. It became obvious to the reader that when I placed my hands near the subject’s head, she was immediately positively affected. Her brain waves immediately went into the alpha (relaxed/meditative) state within seconds. We only got to try it out for a few brief minutes, but it would be very interesting to see how her brain waves would have progressed with a full session, or even a few minutes more. More studies need to be done on Reiki to show others what it can do.

     We are energetic beings. It only makes sense that we can affect each other with energy. We are all connected within this energetic universe. There is no separation.
