Estate Administration is also referred to as Probate.  There is a great misconception that one should avoid probate at all costs.  However, it is seldom avoidable.  If you hold assets individually, and free of a trust, the Probate Court will need to be involved in order to transfer those assets after your passing.  A Will instructs the Court, and your appointed executor, whom should receive your assets.  Without a Will, your assets are distributed based on state law.  The Will can sometimes ease this process, but not avoid it.  Part of the Estate Administration process includes the appointment of a personal representative, the filing of various court documents, the preparation of required tax returns and oversight of the distribution of your legacies.
