This is my first Lyre. Started with an oak 1" oak board and cut the general shape. Used a router to hollow out a cavity. Used a platter from an old hard disk for the resonator. Strings are eight acoustic guitar strings (currently tuned to the key of G). The nut and bridge are from some mild steel L shaped stock. Finish is a water based satin. General dimensions are 9.5" by 18".
It has a nice sound (but then will admit don't have much to compare it to). Made a lightly padded bag to keep it in -- have too many instruments that don't have any storage cases. Sound sample is just my plucking at the strings (single and doubles).
