The Act 93 Compensation Plan
 
The Act 93 contract covers South Eastern School District Administrators, i.e., Principals, Assistant Principals, Director of Transportation, Athletic Director, Assistant Business Manager, etc.  The current contract expires on June 30, 2007. 
 
The South Eastern Tax Reform Coalition (SETRC)submitted a letter to the School Board with recommended changes to the contract, line by line. 

We recognize the importance of attracting and retaining competent personnel in leadership positions, but we also believe that salary and benefits for all school personnel must reflect the economic time and the ability of property owners to fund school budgets.

Negotiations between the Administrators and the School Board Directors are complete.  Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, very few of our recommendations were  implemented.  The former 2-year contract has been extended to a 3-year contract.  Most provisions remain the same, with the exception of increases:
  • Payment for Professional Dues/Publications increased from $500 to $675 per year per administrator.
  • Tuition reimbursement increased from $350 to $600 (in '07-'08), $650 (in ('08-'09) and $700 (in '09-'10) per credit hour.
  • A new provision: employees wishing to opt out of term life insurance will be provided life insurance at $40,000. 
  • The number of sick days has been increased from 12 to 13.
  • The number of Personal days was increased from 4 to 5.
  • One option for severance pay at the time of retirement was increased.

This again proves our current School Board has no interest in controlling spending.  We look forward to the new members taking office in January!
