EMF meters, or electromagnetic field meters, are scientific instruments used for measuring electromagnetic radiation.  EMF meters are used widely by ghost hunting groups.  Critics of paranormal investigation contend that EMF meters are used to indicate the presence of an apparition, due to the belief that paranormal entities emit an electromagnetic field.

EVP's, or electronic voice phenomenom is believed to be the communication by spirits through tape recorders, digital voice recorders, and other electronic devices. 

Infrared video recording techniques make the viewer sensitive to types of light that would be invisible to a human observer.  Human vision is confined to a small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum called visible light.  Enhanced spectral range allows the viewer to take advantage of non-visible sources of electromagnetic radiation such as near-infrared or UV radiation.
