These are BURTOLLI Pasta Sauce jars. The jars have high shoulders and have a
bit of fancy scrollwork and the date 1865 that is molded into the glass itself. The jar is tapered to the bottom, and has
a bulge at the bottom.
I had to soak the jars in the sink for a few hours, to get the paper lable off
the jar. I also had to use a plastic scubbie, (used for scouring pots & pans,) to "scrape-off" the remaining adhesive.
What you end up with is something that looks very much like an urn.

Here we are again, out in the hall in front of my apaertment. It's enclosed,
with a opening at either end, so the air is always blowing through here, in one direction or the other. Makes it nice to be
able to predict which way the air is moving when spray painting.
Anyway...
Not everything has to be sprayed black in a haunt If everything
was, it wouldn't reveal the details and it would be boring. Eye-Candy is the key, the details make it work. So GOLD seemed
to be the natural way to go in this case.

Note to self: Manacurist appointment on Friday.
Gold is also a color that is used a lot with burial urns. It makes them stand
out. You may want to fancy up the sides, by adding a bit more scrollwork, using hot melt glue. Just draw, with the glue, on
the sides of the jar. It'll stick. You can then paint the jars.
Don't forget to paint the lids of the jars.
I'll have to figure out what I can do to make them look a little fancyier than...
"If button pops up, the seal is broken"
warning.
Four more URNS have made the scene tonight.
I used epoxy to glue the marbles to the outer edge
of the bottom of the jars. Some of the marbles didn't
want to cooperate as desired. But I just kept placing
them back on the edge, until the Epoxy firmed up.
I let the epoxy set for about an hour, before I
painted them. Plenty of other things to do
while I waited, like spend time in the
chat of Halloween-L's forum.

The epoxy seems to grip the smooth glass surface
pretty well. One of the marbles had slipped before
I
painted the jars. I had to pull fairly hard to pop
it loose,
then used a razor knife to scrape off the old epoxy,
then reglue it into place. So I think the marbles
will hold for a long, long time.

The lids have escaped any sort of modifications.
I'm off to do some garage/yard sales tomorrow.
Maybe I can find some sort of craft materials
while I browsing other peoples junk.
