Our History: In 2004 two women who had their own home-based direct sales (i.e., party) business started with a desire to meet other women in the same situation and share ideas. They recognized that there is a unique challenge for women who not only run their own business, but those that run it out of their home while still trying to manage a family.There was no better person to appreciate their situation than another woman like themselves, and thus WE of VA was formed. In the past two years the group has grown and the make-up of the businesses has changed.We expanded to include women who not only provide products, but services as well. But throughout this metamorphosis the underlying foundation of the group, women supporting women, has not changed. This group is now and will always be made up of women business owners, colleagues, philanthropists and friends. Our mission statement speaks to the two goals of our group, helping each other and helping women in the community.To that end we have aligned ourselves with BETHEL Ministries Fresh Start Program.Through education and inspiration, they offer avenues, resources and opportunities for women who want to attain and maintain their self-sufficiency. Our support of this group is two fold: we contribute all of the fundraising proceeds of our bi-yearly shows (Fabulous Fall Fling and Spring Spectacular) to Fresh Start and we provide information on employment and entrepreneurship as a registered speaker for the program.
