Multi-instrumentalist Wayne St.
Pierre calls himself a singer-songwriter, but may be more likened to a troubadour of days-gone-by. His songs are the stories of Life, Love and Family set in the modern world. These tales will
keep you running the gamut of emotions.
His music is a melding of Bluegrass,
Blues, Folk, Folk-Rock and Country, or as Wayne puts it, "your Y'alternative to the everyday music you hear on the radio".
Wayne’s first band was
formed when he was 20. He played banjo and guitar for “Out to Lunch” which was a blue grass band playing
primarily in the Taunton, MA area. When “Out to Lunch” had
run its course, Wayne decided to try college. While attending classes, and having
a great time playing with anyone who would play music with him!
Wayne met his future wife and,
soon to be, mother of his children. After earning a degree in Psychology, he
married. The next 20 years flew by as they raised their family. During
those years Wayne never lost interest in playing and songwriting, but was unable to devote the time to actively
pursue his calling as a singer-songwriter.
Now that his children have grown,
he has been playing open mics, coffee houses, and festivals getting his songs out there, and himself back into the original
music scene. Wayne has also played with a group know as "Strange Saints" in the not-to-distant past, but he has
always wanted to promote his original music. So, he has set out on a mission to get his music heard!
Wayne's strongest influence is the current Austin, Texas scene. If you start
off with a folk/rock song and add a touch of bluegrass, a pinch of blues, and stir it up and you might get an idea of Wayne’s
style. It’s a sort of Jerry Jeff Walker meets Dire Straits.
In addition to songwriting, Wayne plays Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo and Harmonica. Added to
his gritty vocals (He's been compared to Tom Waits and Robbie Robertson - but Wayne has a style all his own!),
you've got a very interesting combination that definitely deserves a listen!
Wayne would like to thank Lisa Bindas of "Gotta Have It" in Fairhaven, MA for being a true supporting patron
of his music. These are rare in this day and age, and Wayne so greatly appreciates the support!
