Frequently Asked Questions about Job's Daughters International

Is Job's Daughters a religion?

Absolutely not. Job's Daughters requires a belief in a Supreme Being to become a member, and accepts women of any faith. It is in no way a religion, and it does not try to compete with religion. Instead, the Order strongly encourages you to be active in the church of your choice, and pursue your own religious beliefs.

Who are Freemasons/Master Masons?

Many of our founding fathers were Freemasons. George Washington was the first of 14 Presidents of the United States to be a member of the fraternity, as well as 13 signers of the Constitution.  In more recent history members of the fraternity include President Truman, General Douglas McArthur, numerous astronauts, entertainers, and sports figures.

Freemasonry enjoys over three million members world wide and draws to it's ranks men from every profession and occupation. While each man may have his own religious and political views and opinions, they all share one common bond, the belief in one God, and the need to treat each man with brotherly love and affection.

What's a Bethel?

Literally meaning "Holy Place," is the name for a local group of Job's Daughters meeting in one designated place. They are numbered, not named. For example, our Bethel is called simply Bethel #35, Bel Air.

What are Landmarks?

The same way that landmarks can tell you where to go while you are driving, landmarks direct the way Job's Daughters International is constructed. They form the foundation of our Order. The complete list of our ten Landmarks can be found here.
