Welcome to The Recountal!

Our gaming group started on 11/6/04 playing 3rd Edition D&D.  Since than, we have played many different RPG rules systems and we are still going strong.  We usually play once a week to once every other week (depending on people's schedules).  Summers tend to slow down a bit.

Our gaming group is based in the geographic region of southeastern Washington and adjacent Idaho known as the Palouse. Specifically, games are played in Pullman, WA. Thanks for stopping by!

New Campaign!
I've been meaning to update this for awhile but I haven't got around to it until recently.  I'm really excited about our new campaign.  Its set in area of the Realms that isn't very detailed -- High Imaskar.  That means I get to flesh it out.  For more details about the area, check out the "Lay of the Land" document on the Resources Page.

And, I'm combining this information with a couple of other resources to make it ultra cool :)  First, the adventuring company is in a secret military force that works for the government of High Imaskar.  I borrowed a lot of information for the details of this organization from Mongoose's Wraith Recon.   And to make it a bit more gritty and intriguing, I'm using elements from Glen Cook's The Black Company series of books.  So far, it's worked out nicely.

Most of the team is strikers (a Barabarian, a Rogue, and a Ranger) which is great for a special forces team.  There's also a controller (Invoker) and a leader (Bard) which provide much needed back-up and help round out things nicely.  All the characters are awesome and have totally brought the adventure group to life.

Speaking of, the group, or "Wyvern Company 13" as they're known, has just successfully completed its first mission.  Now they've started their second mission.  As they progress in level and complete the various missions, I have some really cool ideas that I hope I get to use -- some of them from the DMG 2 that I just picked up.

Finally, a couple of rules related topics.  In one of the last games, a jump check came up.  We couldn't remember the rules off the top of our head.  I'm not sure if it boiled down to stopping the game and looking them up or if the player just decided to do something else.  Either way, I'm all for doing different things during combat.  They make encounters more memorable.  So, for jumping a quick rule to remember is what I call the "10 or 5 rule"  Basically this says to jump make an Athletics check and divide your check result by 10.  This is how far you jump.  If you get a running start (move 2 or more squares) divide your check by 5.  Round down.

Next month, Primal Power comes out.  New stuff for our party's barbarian!  :)
