London Falls TM – Paint Arresters

Savings on maintenance, operating and energy costs.

London Falls TM units are paint-arrestors (LF Chambers) for the booth exhaust vent-systems. The LF Chambers are utilized in any types new booths and easily fitted in existing ones. They accommodate all paints from acrylics to waterborne, as well as sanding and polishing operations.

The uniform exhaust airflow, as the fundamental nature of the London Falls TM , assures dust-free technology with a mirror finish in less time and in far superior manner than conventional methods.

The London Falls TM comprises the Air Turbo-Impactor (ATI) hydraulically interconnected with the open-to-the-atmosphere Paint Overspray Collector (POC). The deceptively simple engineering makes use of the aerodynamic force of the exhaust fan to circulate a waterfall paint capture without usage of water pump.

The paint-laden air, passing through the ATI, creates dynamic high-density continuous water streams for its own purification. In the process of penetration the water streams the air disperses in small particles, intensifying a contact with the water, and increasing the air purifying efficiency.

The air is cleaned in by combined actions of the:

1 - venturi effect at the inlet,

2 - inertial impaction of the paint-laden air on the water surface,

3 - controllable turbulent entanglement of the paint-laden air in liquid streams,

4 - centrifugal overspray separation by rapid changes in air and liquid flows direction,

5 - uniform dispersion of the paint-laden air through the dynamic liquid streams,

6 - abrupt expansion (avoiding droplet eliminator).

Then, the clean air leaves the ATI, and paint-laden water flows strictly into the POC.

This is a safe location (NFPA-33) to confine and control the fire hazardous floats. A quiet laminar flow assists in separating the water from overspray.

Then, the clarified water flows back to the ATI for the next air cleaning cycle. This is repeatedly continuous recirculating, constituted only by the exhaust airflow, but not by a water pump. Because of the water is continually reused, the consumption is negligible.

The unique concept of the POC provides sludge removal without the drainage of the entire system.

Hydraulically operated (on principle of “communicating vessels”) the Floats Compactor converts floating paint into a compressed foam mat. The compressed paint can be easily removed without water drainage. This enables paint reclamation and prevents water pollution.

LFp does not trap VOCs vapors; but it does trap VOCs, which are contained in the overspray.

It is a logical approach to expediently impinge a wet overspray strictly in the water bath, where the overspray (still containing VOCs) becomes permanently trapped. The shorter the ways of the overspray to the intake slot of the ATI the higher efficiency of the VOCs capture. The more the overspray is trapped the less the VOCs emission to the atmosphere.

In spite of the LF Chamber has been created as a paint arrester, its unique structure, without employing any additional devices, implements around-the-clock Internal Fire Prevention and Emergency Smoke Removal with Flame Suppression.

The LF Chamber differs from other types of paint arresters by significantly smaller overall dimensions, which turn in substantial space savings.

The absence of pumps, water spray nozzles, baffles, water and air filters, droplets eliminators, chemical additives, and intricately shaped surfaces prevents clogs, laborious paint removal, costly repairs and shutdowns – ultimately relieves from maintenance, lowers operating and energy costs.
