Palomar Knot
The Palomar knot is a general purpose connection used in joining fishing line to hooks,
snaps, swivels or lures. The double wrap of line through the eyelet provides a protective cushion for added knot strength.
Some folks advocate it for use with braided lines, however my personal
experience with it for that application has not been good. Apparently once wet, the knot tends to slip and over time
and under stress will untie itself.

| Step 1 |
1. Double the line and form a loop 3 to 4 inches long. Pass the end of the
loop through the eye.

|
| Step 2 |
2. Holding the standing line between thumb and finger, grasp the loop with
the free hand and tie a simple overhand knot.

|
| Step 3 |
3. Pass the hook or lure through the loop and draw the line while guiding
the loop over the top of the eye.

|
| Step 4 |
4. Moisten the knot coils, then alternately pull the tag end and the
standing line to tighten the knot. Trim the tag end to 1/8" - 1/4".
