San Diego Jam Knot
This
is my favorite knot for joining braided line to a hook, lure, splitring or swivel. I have had better success with this knot
than any of the others, including the others listed here. This knot does not slip after it has been wet for a while,
IF it is tightly secured at initial tying. I use it for both braided lines and monofilament lines with equal
success. It is also recommended for tying fluorocarbon lines to terminal tackle. (As with most knots, for monofilament
or fluorocarbon use it is advisable to wet the knot area before tightening to ease line stress as the knot coils are
pulled into place.)
This knot was previously listed here as the "No-Name". Thanks to Gary Van Gelder for pointing
me to the correct name.

| Step 1 |
Thread the line through the eye of the hook, lure or swivel and pull through so
that the tag end is 5 - 6 inches long.

|
| Step 2 |
Bring the tag end back parallel with the standing part of the line
for approximately 3 inches.
Create (and hold) a small loop in the tag end approximately 3 inches
away from the eye. Tip: The tip of the index finger on the hand holding the line is a convenient anchor for
the small loop.
While holding the loop and the standing portion of the line securely,
wrap the remaining portion of the tag end around the two lines (standing portion and the tag portion). Wrap from the
loop toward the eye for 6 - 8 wraps, then insert the tag end in the opening between the two line portions.

|
| Step 3 |
Bring the tag end back and insert it through the small loop being held.

|
| Step 4 |
Moisten the knot, then tighten SLOWLY by alternately pulling
on the standing line and on the tag end, until the knot is pulled down securely and completely.
Clip the tag end to 1/8" - 1/4".
