Finding Fuses

The first step to doing any type of pinball machine maintenance is to open the cabinet. Prior to starting, make certain there is enough room in front of the machine equal to the length of playfield glass.

1) Open the lower front coin door. This is the door where the coins would be inserted. Usually, it is locked and you will need the key.*
2) Look for the lockdown lever to the right of the open door (see picture). This holds down the lockdown bar which is at the bottom of the playfield glass.


The location of fuses in a Bally pinball machine from the late 70's to the mid- 80's. These fuses are located on a board below the playfield. The main fuse is on the lower left.


A fuse almost hidden on the bottom of the playfield of a Bally machine from the late 70's to mid- 80's. If your playfield is dead, this is the one to search for.


This is the main fuse location for the Bally / Williams games from the late 80's through the 90's. If the game is completely dead, unplug and check this one. It is located just inside the coin door.

This is the location of the main fuse for Sega / Data East / Stern games made in the mid - 90's. If your game is dead, check here. The rest of the fuses are located behind the translite, like in the Bally / Williams games.
