Goldstock's name was discovered on the death certificate of daugther, Lea (Goldstock) Dinovitz from April 1912. The
name Izrael Goldsztok was also found in the Jewish Records Indexing Poland datbase on jewishgen.org for the Lomza Gubernia
District Marriage Records from 1883. He was from Raygrod, Russia and most likely was born and died there. No information
was listed about a spouse name.
Israel married UNKNOWN[2]. UNKNOWN was born in Russia. She died in Russia and was buried
in Russia.

2. Lea Rose GOLDSTOCK (Israel) was born 1862 in Russia. She died 26 Apr 1912 in Pittsburgh,
PA and was buried 28 Apr 1912 in Beth Hamedrash Hagodol Cemetery/ McKees Rocks.
BIOGRAPHY: Leja Rejzla Goldsztok Dunowicz (Lea Rose Goldstock Dinovitz), widowed in her 40s, raised 4 boys; Israel,
Sam, Ben and Charles. She immigrated from Rajgrod, Russia (Polish Russia) around 1894 with 3 sons Sam, Israel &
Ben and husband Max. Charles was born here in Pittsburgh. She also had a daughter, Sora Dina, who died in 1891. It is
not known how the family arrived or where. No information on these Dinovitz's are on record at Ellis Island. Philadelphia,
Boston or Baltimore were more popular ports at that time. She was also a family mystery until I found her in the 1910
US Census. Known residences in the Hill District were; 1527 Center Avenue, 151 Elm Street and 1506 Colwell Street.
She passed away at age 50 from Chronic Vascular Disease at home on Colwell Street, April 26, 1912 at 9:35 PM. Her doctor
was M.A. Goodstone MD and her death certificate was signed by son Samuel.

Lea married Maximilian DINOVITZ "Max", son of Szmul DINOVITZ and UNKNOWN. Max was born 1859 in Raigrad, Russia. He
died 1903 in Pittsburgh, PA and was buried in Beth Hamedrash Hagodol Cemetery/ McKees Rocks.
BIOGRAPHY: Mordchaj Dunowicz (Max Dinovitz) has been a mystery to the family for over 100 years until I finally uncovered
his existance. A peddler from Russia/Poland, he died in 1903 after coming to the USA in the arly 1890s. He has
been buried in McKees Rock's Beth Hamadresh Hagodol Cemetery all this time and we never knew it. What an oversight,
but finally we can put a name behind our family! The Pittsburgh, PA City Directories from 1899 - 1906 list the last
name as; Dinewitz, Dinewich, Dinowitz, Dinowich & Dinovitz. The spelling Dinovitz appeared after his death around
1903. Also, his first name is listed as Marks in the 1899 Directory. All addresses listed were 1527 Center
Avenue (Pittsburgh's Hill District Area). According to the 1900 US Census, Max Denovich with wife Lea and sons Sam,
Israel, Ben & Charles lived on 1527 Center Avenue. These details were found on 3/29/2007. Atleast we now know
the family lived together for a short time while in the USA.

BIOGRAPHY: Never married, no children. Served in World War I; United States Army, 109th Infantry,
28th Division, Company L (Service Number 1850824)
DEATH: Sam was listed as "Missing In Action" in 1918 during a US Army battle in France. The
family spent 2 years writing to the Army to uncover confidential details about his disappearance during the war. He
was finally deamed "Killed In Action" around 1920.

Sora Dina Dunowicz a
daughter, born to Leja and Mordchaj Dunowicz died in 1891. The records were found in the Jewish Records Indexing Poland
on jewishgen.org. The date of birth or any other vital records have not been found yet!
Third Generation
4. Charles DINOVITZ (Lea Rose GOLDSTOCK, Israel) was born 21 Feb 1900 in Pittsburgh, PA. He
died 1954 in Pittsburgh, PA from Stroke.
BIOGRAPHY: Charles was orphaned at the age of 12 and was raised with his aunt and uncle; Abraham and Sarah Goldstock,
who arrived in the USA in 1906. Abe Goldstock is believed to be Lea (Goldstock) Dinovit'z brother. This information
has not been confirmed though. Charles started to work in the men's clothing business with his brother Israel.
After Izzy's death in 1940 Charles became owner of Dinovitz Clothing Company on Penn Avenue, downtown Pittsburgh.
Charles married Rose DOBKIN "Rosie", daughter of Itsel DOBKIN "Israel" and Chane FREIDMAN "Anna". Rosie was born 1903
in Russia. She died 2005 in Pittsburgh, PA from Heart Failure.
BIOGRAPHY: Immigrated to USA from Furewizci, Russia on 10/25/1907.
The German vessel "Wittekind" traveled to Ellis
Island with 1540 passengers from the port of Bremen and landed on 11/07/1907. Among the 1540 passengers was mother Chane
Dobkin, daughter Reisel(age 3) and sons Jankel(age 5) and Rubin (age 7). They resided in Shamokin, PA with husband and
father Itsel Dobkin, who arrived 2 years prior.

9. Sanford DINOVITZ "Chick" (Charles DINOVITZ, Lea Rose GOLDSTOCK, Israel) was born 13 May 1932
in Pittsburgh, PA. He died 7 Mar 2007 in Pittsburgh, PA from Stroke.
BIOGRAPHY: Chick followed his father's lead and went into the men's clothing industry as well. He took over
Dinovitz Clothing in 1954 after the unexpected passing of his father. He was a mainstay on Fifth Avenue through the
early 1970s with Dinovitz Clothing and Al Berk's. His seventy-four years were spent seeing
his entire family (sons, daughters-in-law, grand-children, mother, sister, nieces and nephews) as his shining stars in his
life. Just like his father, Chick also left us rather unexpectedly on March 7, 2007 after a short battle with cancer and mini-strokes.
Although he lost this battle, he will always be a shining star in all of the eyes that he touched!
Chick married Barbara AKSELRAD "Barb", daughter of Frank AKSELRAD and Dorothy GOLDEN, in Sep 1967 in Pittsburgh,
PA. The marriage ended in divorce. Barb was born 15 Jun 1943 in Pittsburgh, PA.
Chick and Barb were divorced 1992 in Pittsburgh,
PA.

Bud proudly served his country and everyones freedom in WWII. He experienced
more in those short years than most people do in their entire lives. I have always been proud to tell anyone who would
listen about my "Uncle Bud" fighting for our country and the few stories he ever shared with me.
