2. What kind of shoes should I get?
The best kind of shoes for Track are racing flats. There is not a big selection in children's sizes, but the most
popular brand is put out by Nike. They are really only good for track racing. If you get a racing flat, make sure
you don't get ones with spikes or that accepts spikes. RACING FLATS ARE BEST BOUGHT AT A SPECIALTY RUNNING STORE
LIKE THE JENKINTOWN RUNNING COMPANY. JUST MAKE SURE THEY KNOW YOU WANT SPIKELESS TRACK SHOES.
If you want an all-around shoe, just go with a regular running shoe that is lightweight and flexible. Regular running
shoes can vary in price, and can be purchased at a variety of stores.
3. Can Bantams, 3rd Graders, run at the meets?
Yes, bantams can run any of the races at the Saturday meets during the regular season. They cannot participate
in the Region 11, but they may have a Bantams champions, in addition to the Kennedy Relays. More information will be
provided.
4. Can Bantams throw the shot put?
No. This event puts a lot of stress on the elbow and shoulders especially if not don correctly. Also, we
may not allow the bantams to do the high jump, but this will be decided on a case-by-case basis. Some of the younger
kids are just too small to correctly jump onto the mat alone clear the crossbar.
5. Will you need help at the meets?
Yes. Let a coach know if you are willing to help, and we'll give you a job. Even if we don't give you something
specific, listen to the races that are called and let the kids in the stands know what is coming up.
