Marchel Alverson is the author of "Painted on Souls" and "Savor the Sweetness." She obtained a bachelor’s degree from Central Missouri State University, where she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She also holds a master’s degree in communication studies from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Marchel has worked as a journalist for more than twelve years, both as a writer and editor in Kansas City, Mo., Reno and Tampa. Currently, she works as a communications specialist in Kansas City.
