Pastor Blakney grew up in a rural farming community near
Petitcodiac,
New Brunswick, Canada. He has three brothers and one sister. His
father was a dairy farmer so early mornings and long hours were the norm around his home.
He rededicated his life to the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 14 at the Full Gospel Assembly in Killams Mills, New Brunswick. Pastor Blakney along with his two older brothers are ordained ministers of the Gospel.
After graduating from Petitcodiac
Regional High School, Pastor Blakney attended
Faith School of Theology in Charleston, Maine. It was at Faith School of Theology that he met his wife Sally. Sally grew up in Presque Isle, Maine, where
she graduated from Presque Isle
High School. She accepted
the Lord at a young age and attended the Full Gospel Assembly in Presque Isle.
Pastor and Sister Blakney were married during their senior
year at Faith School. After graduating in 1980, they moved to Woodstock,
New Brunswick, where they attended Bethel
Pentecostal Church. There they taught Sunday School, led in worship and had an occasional opportunity to preach.
In March of 1982, Pastor and Sister Blakney accepted the
pastorate at the Allagash Pentecostal Church in Allagash, Maine,
where they served for 3 years. While in Allagash, Pastor Blakney was ordained
by Faith School of Theology. In March of 1985, they accepted the pastorate here
in Washburn and have been with us ever since. In 1994 Pastor Blakney was licensed
with the Northern New England District of the Assemblies of God and was ordained with them in 1996.
The Blakney’s have three beautiful daughters who
have brought much joy to the Blakney home. Their oldest daughter, Crystal, lives
in the Washburn area with her husband Craig and their three wonderful children, Charlie, Chase and Chelsie. They are
the pride and joy of Grammy and Grampy. Their second daughter, Amber, and her
husband Sampson are living in Greenville, South Carolina. They are both very involved in the music ministry of their church
and preparing for the day when they can get back into the Theatrical Ministry. Their
youngest daughter, Tabitha, attended the Washburn High School and Graduated in 2006. She
is working locally and involved the youth ministry at the Washburn
Pentecostal Church.
