Long time East Bay Buccaneers and East Bay High School quarterback Rex Ballenger died on Monday, May 19, 2008, from injuries sustained in a traffic accident on Saturday. Rex was a wonderful young man who played with determination and hustle, yet always had a smile on his face and a good thing to say about his opponents. He was both a joy to coach and to play against. WCYFC mourns the tragic loss of Rex, and our hearts and prayers go out to his family and his extended East Bay Buccaneers family. There will be a memorial service on Friday, May 23, 2008, at 6:00 pm, at the East Bay Buccaneers practice facility located at Vance V. Vogel Park, 13010 Bullfrog Creek, Gibsonton, Florida.
