What
is GAP? The
Gifted Association of Pinellas County is an organization focused on the unique needs of gifted children. It was originally
formed in 1972, and was instrumental in lobbying to create the current gifted education programs in the Pinellas County School
District.
GAP reorganized in 2006 and is currently working with the school board on the creation of a Gifted Middle
School. During the 2007-2008 school year, GAP invited district level administrators to meet with parents . This resulted in
some changes in gifted delivery models for the 2008-2009 school year. GAP is pleased to announce that three sites for the
Gifted Middle School will be opened for a 6th grade class for the 2009-2010 school year.
Mission Statement: Our
current mission is to promote the best interests of gifted children in Pinellas County, by working with parents, educators,
policy makers and the community to establish enrichment programs, educational opportunities and services.
