I like this op-ed from todays NY Times
Friedman wises up and realizes that start ups need to get the economy going, but in order to do that, it must be affordable.
In other words, incentives and LOWER TAXES. He does not get to that point, maybe because it would be blasphemy!

Publix Calendar Omits Pearl Harbour Day
Publix supermarkets received angry calls regarding its new calendar. Apparently, it notes that the Muslim New Year begins
on December 7. People are angry that its not Pearl Harbour Day.
My question is this; What is the holiday? And number two, if you want to play that game, is how would you classify September
11? We all know its an important day, but I don't expect it to be on a calendar. And why is it ok to list only the Christian
holidays? America is a Christian nation? Its secular. We have the freedom to choose. I think people are afraid to look in
the mirror and see the hypocracy.

DJIA hits 10,500
But don't get your hopes up. Yes, its been a great rally, but its based on smaller balence sheets and the result of lower
inventories and lower employment. When we see actual gains in market share or revenues from 3 years ago, then we really
are in a good position. I think we will see a sell of of 5% by the beginning of summer and then a resurgence towards the holiday
season. After that, it will be a bull market.

Happy New Year!
Well, to say the least, 2009 was an interesting year. We saw stability in the economy/financial markets. We saw the passing
of several, much loved people. We saw the first year of a new presidency. A summertime issue came up again, health care reform,
which turns out to become 'health insurance control by the government'. I already told you my feelings about this mess before
and it still holds true. It is closer to becoming reality. This could mean slightly higher premiums for those with individual
policies mainly because unhealthy people and smokers will be in the 'pool'. Think NY individual health insurance. This also
means that uninsureds would have to obtain it, or get a fine. I think the point of this bill is to make history. Democrats
want to make history than to improve the lives of American people. But anyway, 2010 is going to be great.
