Who is Clara May?
Clara May Cakes is named after the founder's two grandmothers. Clara Hormes Veltung ("Nanny") was born and raised
in New York City. She loved Broadway shows, spending time with her close friends, her dear husband James and her family.
She was eating healthy and taking care of herself long before it was fashionable. She made the most delicious meatloaf. Mary
Kramer Kevel ("Bobshe"), called "May" by her dear husband Tony was born in a small Polish community in Pennsylvania.
She moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she worked as a seamstress and raised her three children. She loved travelling
with her Senior Citizens group, reading, and most of all her grandchildren. She loved to make the Polish foods she grew
up with. She made a mean Lentil soup and fantastic latkes.
