I received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University in 1975, where I specialized in digital design.

In the mid '90s, I decided to return to school and pursue a Masters degree.  I received a Masters of Engineering Computer Science and Engineering degree in 1998 from the University of Texas at Arlington.  I concentrated on software engineering and real-time operating systems.

During the day, I'm the Business Development manager for Special Programs at Raytheon, where I've worked since 1975.

I've been teaching at North Lake Community College since the fall of 1999.  I've taught all three Unix courses offered at North Lake and am currently teaching Unix System Administration.

I am a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the IEEE Computer Society.  I am also a member of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) and the ACM Software Engineering Special Interest Group (SIGSOFT) for whom I regularly write book reviews.

Here are some Computer Science papers I've written

Real-time Operating System Scheduling Algorithms

Return On Investment for Software Process Improvements

Branch Predictions for RISC Processors

And here are some book reviews I've published in The Association of Computing Machinery's "Software Engineering Notes"

"Delphi 3 User Interface Design" May 1999

"The Practice of Programming"  July 1999

"Efficient Memory Programming" January 2000

"Measuring the Software Process: Statistical Process Control for Software Process Improvement "  March 2000

"Accelerated C++" January 2001

"Building Secure Software" March 2002

"C++ In Action" August 2002
