All of the modern versions (including New King James version) state:

receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand,

This is another possible way for the non-discerning believer to be deceived into taking the mark of the beast.  "It's not the mark of the beast, it is going in your hand not on it."

Eventually this RFID chip is going to contain all of your financial information.  There was a recent commercial where a man in a trench coat entered a grocery store and began hiding items inside his coat then walked through a scanner out the door without stopping.  A security guard stopped him, giving the initial impression that he was going to bust him for shop lifting.  The security guard then says to the man, "You forgot your receipt."  As the man exited the scanner, it had automatically scanned his groceries and deducted it from his checking account.  Clearly the ultimate goal of this RFID chip is to control commerce.
