Peter Sides - American Revolutionary Soldier and Texas Patriot

My 4th great grandfather, Peter Sides (Seitz), was of German ancestry.  He fought in the American Revolution as a young man and then, at the age of 65, he fought and died in the Battle of Medina in an effort to win independence for Texas from Spain.

We (me, my husband, mom, 2 aunts, cousin, son, daughter-in-law, and grandson) made a trip to South Texas in 2006 to attend the ceremony marking the Battle of Medina.  The story and pictures that follow talk about our trip.
