Question: Why don't members of your church drink alcohol or smoke?
Answer: Our Bodies are a gift from God and we believe that we should take care of all of Gods gifts. Additionally we recognize teachings that instruct us on what types of food and drink to avoid. This is called "The Word of Wisdom".

Question: Why are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints called "Mormons"?
Answer: The name "Mormons" is a nickname that comes from our use of additional scripture called "The Book of Mormon - Another Testament of Jesus Christ". It was initially used in the early-mid 1800's and the nickname stuck. While we kindly acknowledge the nickname, as a church we prefer the correct name of "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints".

Question: Why does your church have other scriptures besides the Bible?
Answer: We believe that God loves all of his children and as such taught those people that were in other parts of the world. Those other groups also recorded the things they were taught as scripture. One such group are the ancestors of the Native American Indians, as well as Central and South Americans. Just like the people in the East, they were taught the commandments and the will of God through holy prophets. The teachings and principals that they taught and recorded in their scripture are in perfect harmony with those teachings and principals of the Bible from the people in the East. This record is called The Book of Mormon. Additionally, we have other scriptures that are a record of the prophets that the Lord has provided us in these latter days. These writings are also in perfect harmony with the Bible. These additional scriptures in no way detract from the Bible, but more importantly they add clarity to all that the Lord has taught us. Think about it, if you have one witness to an incident, that's good, but the more witnesses to the same incident the better. The same principal applies to the teachings of the word of God. The more writings you have that teach the same teachings, the better. In 2 Corinthians 13:1 it reads, "THIS is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established."

Question: Why do people always mention Mormons when they talk about Polygamy? Do Mormons practice Polygamy?
Answer: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) for a few years nearly 150 years ago, did practice polygamy by instruction of the Lord. Those individuals who were issued a calling to take an additional wife, were called according to their obedience in all the commandments of God as well as their obedience to this particular issued calling as they were able to verify through their own personal prayer (as with all callings in the church), their personal spiritual worthiness and ability to support another. They did not do this by their own volition, nor did they volunteer. There were only a few members that were issued this particular calling of God to take more than one wife. Now days there are disassociated off-shoots of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints that still practice Polygamy. Unfortunately they call themselves by names that are frequently similar to our church, but neither our church nor it's leadership recognizes any of these organizations as an affiliate or appendage to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in any way.
