ABOUT US
Chelsea Recovery Clubhouse Inc. (aka Chelsea Clubhouse) was organized to operate exclusively for public benefit and charitable purposes within the scope of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The primary purpose of Chelsea Recovery Clubhouse Inc. is to establish and maintain a meeting space for individuals who, by their own admission, are alcoholics or drug addicts and who are interested in enjoying social activities among them while maintaining their own personal sobriety. The organization provides safe, dependable and an affordable meeting space for the recovery community in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York and fosters an environment of fellowship, education, spiritual support and social opportunity.

Chelsea Recovery Clubhouse Inc. believes that the recovery community, which involves everyone who is working against alcohol and other drug dependence, needs a larger public dimension. We believe that it is necessary to go beyond mutual support to active advocacy by showing respect for people in the recovery community and those still struggling. There are many paths to recovery like abstinence, moderation, medication, detachment, etc. But the most powerful of all is encouragement and of building association. In order to benefit from such association, all those battling to come out of alcoholic and substance abuse, people working towards the same goal in order to change the society, must come together.

Chelsea Recovery Clubhouse Inc. provides meeting space that helps the recovery community to come together for the purpose of association in a place where there will be fellowship of men and women who will share their experience, strength and hope with each other to solve their common problems and help others to recover from alcoholic and drug abuse. This meeting space also provides recovery community programs like Twelve-Step recovery, Alcoholic and Drug Anonymous programs, other recovery related workshops and retreats. Such activities encourage a feeling of belonging among the participants.

Anyone seeking recovery for themselves, their friends or their family members as well as the members and guests of the Chelsea Recovery Clubhouse Inc. or anyone seeking a drop-in, will benefit from this activity.

This activity is still in the planning process and the Vice-Chair of Operations will be in charge of this activity. The organization will charge a minimal amount as rent for the office space from the communities that will conduct meetings and programs here. The office space will have two large meeting rooms, a fellowship lounge with Wi-Fi devices, tables, chairs, bathrooms etc. This activity will be funded by the charitable donations and contributions received by the organization, private and public foundations, rent, and membership fees.

The tax exempt purposes that will be accomplished by providing meeting space by the organization are as follows:
(1.)    Providing an office space for the benefit of the recovery community for just a minimal and affordable amount of rent in a state like New York which demands a high standard of living, draws a large number of people seeking help to recover from alcoholic and substance abuse; and
(2).    Providing a forum for the participants to discuss their problems freely so that the person can take the way towards sobriety and recover from alcoholic and drug addiction.

Chelsea Recovery Clubhouse Inc. depends upon the charitable donations received by each cooperative organization for its operations. The organization will engage in fundraising activities such as personal solicitations, mail solicitations, email solicitations, and other city, state, federal, and private grants.
