Series Championship

The National Flag Football Series is a series of independent tournaments, with the tournaments linked by a points system.  The points system will be used for seeding teams for individual tournaments as well as determining an annual Series Champion.  The points system is listed below, and can only be changed for the following year at our business meeting.

The Annual Series ends each year with the New Orleans Bowl, and begins with the first tournament after the New Orleans Bowl.

Starting in 2013, a cut system will be used for those teams that want to play in the Pro bracket of the New Orleans tournament.  Any team in the top 24(and all ties) in the points standings can play in the Pro Bracket for the basic registration fees as listed for New Orleans.  Any team that hasn’t acquired enough points to be in the top 24 can still register for the Pro Bracket, but will pay $300 additional to “buy their way in” to the Pro Bracket.   This is made invalid if the tournament becomes an Open/Pro Tournament.

Points earned in the New Orleans tournament will be the included toward the seeding for the next year, including the points cut line.

The Series Champion will have the option of playing in any tournament they wish during the next calendar year with a $250 discount.

Points System

The points system will be based strictly on the number of teams participating.

The winner of the Competitive Bracket will be listed after the last-place team from the Pro Bracket.

Teams that do not participate in the single elimination portion of a tournament will not receive points or be listed in the final results.

Tournaments with less than 12 teams get 1 point per team.  (In an 11-team tournament, 11 points will go to the winner, 10 to 2nd, etc.)

Tournaments with 12-18 teams will get 2 points per team (In a 12-team tournament, 24 points will go to the winner, 22 to 2nd, etc.)

Tournaments with 19+ teams will get 3 points per team.  (In a 19-team tournament, 57 points would go to the winner, 54 to 2nd, etc.)

To support the league play, teams can also earn single points through league play.

Ties will be split based on the average of the two places.  For example, in the 11 team tournament, two teams tie for 3rd place.  Since 3rd place would get 9 points and 4th place would get 8, both teams will get 8.5 points.

Prize System

Each tournament will be responsible for dispensing its own prizes.  With 10 teams participating, there will be a minimum prize of $1000, and all prize pools will be announced when the schedule is released.

The Pro Bracket will be playing for a monetary prize.  The Competitive Bracket will be playing for a trophy.  If there aren’t enough teams to host both a Pro and Competitive Bracket, it will be considered a Pro Tournament with a cash prize.

The winning teams will have the option of taking the prize in cash, or split into a bid to New Orleans and cash.  In the case of a $1000 grand prize, that split would be $500 and the early entry fee for New Orleans.
