Intarsia By Steve Wavro

Hi, and welcome to my website. My name is Steve Wavro and I started doing Intarsia in 2004.  Intarsia can be described as a form of art which utilizes varied species of wood, which are cut, sanded, and fit together to create an almost 3-D, mosaic-like picture.  I have learned a lot between my first project (a simple flower comprized of 5 pieces) and one of my more recent projects (a whole basket of flowers comprised of over 400 pieces).

Most of my projects are displayed in my home or office, but I have made many others as gifts for very special people or to donate to charity auctions.  I do on occassion accept commissions if my schedule allows and the price is fair.  A fair price for consignment work ranges between $2.50 - 4.50 per individual piece of the project (i.e. a project comprised of 50 pieces would be in the $125-225 depending on the types of wood species used, pattern cost, and complexity of design).

I am an active member of the Wood Workers Club of Houston where I am currently serving on the club's board of directors.  In 2006, I was pleased to be voted as the club's Wood Worker of the Year.
