Finally!!
Hello All,
It has been a long time coming, the PIC24/32 PIM board is now available for purchase. I'm still working issues
with the Microchip USB PIM boards that have forced me to soon offer one of our own PIM boards. They have made several
changes to the pinout that have addressed Explorer16 board issues, but have moved it away from my design.
Also our PIC32 Companion board is now fully compatible with the new PIC32 USB Starter kit.
Due to a branding problem, pointed out by the Microchip folks, you may notice we have re-named our boards (removing the
'AV' reference) to minimize confusion with other products.
We now have a new logo on the boards, how do you like it?
and vote for me [please :)]
Best Regards,
-Eric

Download page updated & Vacuum pump controller progress
Updated the Downloads page to be consistent with the boards shipping now (updated revs, etc).
Also posted an updated picture of the vacuum pump controller and RC Telemetry in the R&D section.
All the pictures in the site should now be up to date and consistent with the parts shipping.

Increased traffic and updates
Hello Everyone,
We've seen some increased traffic and have had a chance to get information on our boards out. Our boards were at
the 2008 Microchip Masters PIC32 table (thanks Clayton!). Also there was a recent writeup on Dev-Monkey on the boards
you can find the article here.
To all who are patiently waiting for the PIM board, it will be just alittle longer...I found some problems with how I
setup the USB for OTG and have found a real challenge finding cables to hook up to things (without making my own or paying
alot for adapters). If you know the USB specs, I am just learning the nuances of what types of connectors can be used
for what (legally--which means what you can find cables for). As a result, I am now adding a USB A-type receptacle to
the board for Host operations, the mini connector will be a mini-B type. I will offer an option for making this a mini-AB
type for those who want to do OTG, but due to the prices of those connectors (wow--$7-8 just for the connector), it will cost
you a little more. I have actually fund mini-A and mini-B cables finally at a good price so I'm comfortable offering
this now.
As a result the PIM boards I have will be available in the 'Ding and Dent' category for those who don't mind having a
little cut and jumper on their board. Also, USB will be limited to 'Device' and 'Host' (with an adapter cable) operations
only. If you want OTG, you will have to do some more jumpering to make it work and it will be a one way trip.
If you are interested send me an email and we can work out a reasonable (discounted) price. For those who want a board
that does it all, I'm working on the layout update right now, please be little more patient :).
Lastly, if you are playing with the Nokia knockoff displays and are having trouble, be advised, that the latest displays
from Sparkfun seem to have the Philips PCF8833 controller, so make sure you are sending the right commands as they are different
than the Epson. The Philips controllers seem to have Red tabs on the protective cover that comes with the display, the
Epson ones were green. You can find lots of code for them in the links from Sparkfun. Also take heed the SPI format
is 9-bit, so you will need to accomodate that. Send me an email if 'you just can't get it' and I'll send you code that
will do that.
If you are following the myPIC32 contest, I made it to the next round--one of the 128! My entry is the "Handheld
Multi-core Spectrum Analyzer" and my username is ohmite . If you like it please vote for my entry and rate it,
during this next round, votes count! Thanks if you do. If you have any comments, don't hesitate to give them.
Join the myPIC32 community and you are elligible for weekly prizes too if you keep reviewing entries, some of them are amazing!
If you have a board and have questions, please don't hesitate to ask, if you have a board and are having fun with it,
let me know, I'd love to hear how you are coming along.
Best Regards,
-Eric

Hello,
I have updated the website to include a shopping cart with shipping computed during checkout. Also I have updated
the purchase options to include the kit of parts and a fully assembled board.
If you want an AV-32/P hurry, I only have one bare board and one assembled unit left until I make another PCB purchase
(2 week wait). There are 8 AV-32s left in whatever form you want.
More stuff on the R&D page if you are following some of my side projects....The RC Telemetry system is coming right
along: WAV player, voice, RTCC, external crystal working, Linx Rx module mounted and airborne transmitter ready for
first RF link checks, wish me luck!
I hope everyone that has a board so far is enjoying them, let me know how you are coming along, or if you have any questions.
I am continually amazed with the power of the internet, I've sold a board to someone in Australia, half way around the
globe, enjoy Peter!
Best Regards,
-Eric

Download Updates & AV-32/P board now available
Hello Everyone,
Letting everyone know that the schematics for V1.3 have been updated as of 060608.
Also, if you haven't noticed I have posted the AV-32/P breakout board now. This has the same capabilities of the
AV-32 board and more (like USB and an external crystal for the RTCC). Also, this board is intended for those who use the PIC32
PIM modules. The cool thing is that it is also compatible with the PIC24 PIM modules!
Let me know if you have any special requests.
Best Regards,
-Eric

Hello everyone!
This is my first blog entry. I have developed breakout boards for the PIC32MX Starter kit and the PIC24/PIC32 PIM
modules. With the cooperation of Lucio Di Jasio, we have named it the AV-32 and AV-32/P. This board is the perfect
companion for those who have purchased Lucio's latest book: "Programming 32-bit Microcontrollers in C - Exploring the
PIC32". With this board, you can perform all of the projects he presents in one place, rather than buying multiple boards.
I have also provided additional features, not offered in the book, but soon to be on Lucio's website (like VGA) and the
Nokia color LCD display as well as a generous prototyping area for your own projects.
Please browse through all the pages of my site, if you see something you like, please let me know eflightworks@verizon.net. If you see something you don't like, please let me know too!
Enjoy,
-Eric
