The Problem: |
|
Families whose children have disease and disability, often have to deal with the numerous medical bills that have not been
covered or partially covered by the insurance companies. They also have to deal with the numerous phone calls from creditors
and bill collectors. This is only one of many issues that these families face but they are also trying to deal with the stresses
of have a child with disease or disability.
|
The Need: |
Our children are the victims of diseases of all kinds. |
|
Research shows that 7.5% of the families in Western New York have a child with a disease & an average of
10.3% have disabilities.
|
|
The physical & emotional problems that these children have often leads to emotional and financial problems
for the parents. The extra stresses of caring for a sick child, taking the child to many doctors appointments, non-paid medical
bills, phone calls from the bill collectors and so much more. |
|
Solving the problems of these families are very complex and time consuming. Time for these families is a rare commodity.
However, The Morlock Foundation feels that the families who get the proper support can thrive in spite of these disease and
issues it causes.
|
|
15% of these families have no health insurance and 61.5% of these families
have insurance that will not cover all procedures, hospital stays and other bills. | |
|
The Morlock Foundation is developing a program with assistance for these families who have child(ren) with a disease
and disability. This program will strengthen the family and reduce the stress level. |

We the founders have seen first hand the pressures and stresses that come from having a child with heart disease, asthma,
narcolepsy and ADHD. We ask you to consider what we offer to these families and what you will do right now. This new organization
requires significant investment and involvement, but consider what your investment will do for these families, let alone each
child. One of the most impacting times in our life was the day that our son put a prayer card in for our pastor and asked
the church to pray for his mom and dad to figure out how they would pay for his next open heart surgery and past due medical
bills. After persistent effort by his parents, his prayer for finding a way to pay for his next surgery were answered by the
commitment of the insurance company to pay for 80% of the next surgery's bills. | We are inviting
everyone to provide a helping hand to meet the needs of these families and these children. Help comes in many forms:
- Personal financial gifts
- Grants from Foundations
- Participation in fundraising events
|
- Grants from Corporations
- Participation with another organization
- Volunteering

How do we help these families?
There is no simple answer because every family has different issues that overwhelm them. There
are some that need help with medical bill negotiation, there are some that need help with scheduling before an operation,
there are some that need help getting there house in order, there are some that need help planning a funeral with the death
of there family member. The list of how we help these families goes on and on.
From Aug 7,2003 through December 2007 we helped save our families over $6.5 million on medical bills,
prescriptions and hundreds of thousands on medical equipment.
